Program 2017 - 2018

September 19, Tuesday 530-730pm

Potluck gathering to discuss program and renew memberships
Location: Carol Dodd's home

November 12, Sunday 9am-4pm

Making basketry ornaments to sell during Wintercraft with proceeds going to the Food Bank. Wintercraft dates are November 24 to December 21.
Location: Lions Hall

November 19, Sunday 3-5pm

Fran Sloan-Sainas and Donna Cochran will give a presentation about the National Basketry Organization conference they attended in July in Tacoma, WA.
Location: Joan Carrigan's home

2018

January 21, Sunday 9am-4pm

Exploring wrapping rocks. Many guild members have been playing with different techniques and will help others who are new to rock wrapping or would like to learn new techniques.
Location: Lions Hall

Spring/summer events that are in the works:

A joint program event with the SSI Weavers and Spinners Guild - a presentation by Chilkat weaver, Meghann O'Brien, from Vancouver about her work.

Willow workshop in Merville with Kelly Wilson, possibly learning the fitched herring basket.

A reed dyeing session with Joan Carrigan and Donna Cochran at Carol Dodd's.

A visit to the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, WA to see the travelling exhibition - "Rooted, Revived, Reinvented: Basketry in America" at the museum from Feb 3-May6. Possibly combined with a visit to Katherine Lewis at Dunbar Gardens.

In July, Eva Seidenfaden is visiting from Denmark prior to she and Joan participating in the Emma Lake Collaboration in Saskatchewan, July 25- Aug 2.
